Residents living amongst Louisiana’s changing landscape can find themselves trapped in places that no longer provide the safety and community they once did. Not only can this impact the individual lives of people living in vulnerable spaces, it can cripple the potential of their families and the community as a whole.

Our Mission: Improving Lives Through Voluntary Relocation and Land-Use Improvements

NLF is a non-profit model for a solution that communities across the country and globe need in the 21st century. We are working collaboratively to build better communities for us all. Families living in harm's way are a result of both historic inequities and a changing landscape. In Louisiana, the heart of the environmental justice movement and the state most at risk from climate change, addressing these challenges is a necessity.

EMPOWERING OPPORTUNITY

NLF is creating an empowerment tool through property purchasing. By providing the resources and support necessary for each resident to build a better life of their own choosing, we can set them on a path of success. Success they may not have had access to in the past.

The New Legacy Foundation aims to resolve challenges through empowering individual choice in vulnerable populations historically underserved and living in harm's way. Success for the New Legacy Foundation occurs when a resident is given the opportunity and support necessary to choose a better life for themselves and their family. Not only does this resolve existing problems in a community living in conflict, it channels informed investments into communities better able to grow and serve the needs of all its residents. Each participant has the opportunity to improve their own health and safety as well as create a foundation of increased economic stability for their household.
